What are some of the most important Current Events of the 2007-2008 school year?

I'm doing a History project about the most prominent events that have occurred this year, but I'm not one to follow the news, so I can only think of a few. Can anyone recommend some? I have the Darfur Genocide and the assassination of Benazir Bhutto so far. I need 4-5. Anything you can suggest would be helpful. Thanks!
