E-Town Concrete - Renaissance

Actually really anything from these guys. Awesome band out of Elizabeth, NJ. They mix hip-hop with metal, but not in the nu-metal/rap-core way that is popular now. No DJ or anything like that. Pretty damn good band.

Symphony X - The Odyssey

Both are prog masterpieces. PT is Rock; SX is metal.

Both are highly rated (by the people who have heard the albums); its just that they weren't ever promoted well enough. So, most ppl have never heard of them.
 
Hahaha. Eh, they aren't quite as 80's new wave. I haven't heard a ton of their stuff, but the song from the Give Up CD that I have heard are pretty cool. Just some chill music.
