what are some known problems with the 73-87 GM trucks?

what are some known problems areas on the 73-87 GM trucks for example areas that are known for rust / weak drivetrain parts I was looking fr one to use as a work trucka s was wondering what problem i would need to check for before buying
 
When you are talking about a vehicle that is more than two decades old, just about everything about the truck could be in question. Wish I could be more specific, but its true.
 
I'll never forget that Dateline eposide about the exploding gas tank mounted outside the frame, on the side of the truck.

Other than it blowing up, I don't know of any other problems. You should get some nice, entertainingly false answers to gawk at though...
