We plan on paying cash for a used car and I just wanted some tips on haggling and what to look for. We have up to 15,000 to spend but really would rather spend 13,000 out the door.
Specifically, we've found a good deal on a 2007 Mercury Milan Premier V6 with 38,650miles on it for 12,995. I've looked around and something like that would typically sell for around 14,000. Anyways, I know 12,995 is a fair price but I would like it if they would drop the price by about 1,000 because the car does have a few dings (3 on the doors and 1 larger one on the bumper). Other than that, the car is in great shape!
I would like it if this deal could be worked out but it's not like I'm in a hurry to buy. We have plenty of time to look around. Anyways, any tips you could offer or advice to the example above would be helpful. Thanks!
