in my car. I have an Acura TL. I tried the tape deck ones where a cassete goes into the player and it plugs into your IPod, but it doesn't work. I also have the one where it runs by the frequency of your radio, within 3 months it broke and doesn't give me a real frequency 9F.4 shows on the screen?. Does anyone know any good and possibly reasonably priced options that I could try?

The most simplistic and best way is to get an aftermarket deck that is ipod capable...
Benefits of owning one:
It will provide a bit more power to your speakers
It will cleanup your spekars and increase the quality of sound going to them
Aftermarket decks are usually capable of many addons such as bluetooth serious satellite HD radio and many other things.
A good ipod capable deck will actually control your ipod right from the deck making choosing a song while driving an ease

If you would like some help choosing one in a decent pricerange feel free to Im/Email me for assistance.

Like you've already learned, FM modulators do a terrible job. Even when the work the sound quality is just awful.

Your best option is going to be to replace the head unit with one that will control your ipod. You should be able to do this for about $300 installed. I personally like the pioneer units but it's up to you. If you save your factory radio you can take the new radio with you when you sell this car so think of the $300 as a long term investment.
