me and my friends are going on a camping trip that will last a few days and we will be hiking the whole way what are some good ideas for food that wont weigh us down but will be enough to keep us going

i think that it would be good idea to either, take some peanut butter and jelly's. with lots of water. fruit bars.

*Granola bars- particularly high protein bars like clif bars. Powerbars pack a lot of energy too but i think they're kinda gross.
*fruit leather/dried fruit
*rice cakes and peanut butter/mini bagels and cream cheese (wont get squished or go bad if its not real hot outside)
*Jerky- lightweight, lots of protein. there is even vegetarian jerky made from seitan called primal strips that are really good.
*trail mix- nuts, dried fruit, chocolate all good for fast energy needed to get up steep climbs
*fast cooking pasta/ramen noodles or beans and rice (any store-brand like zatarains that u add water to)- easy warm food for dinner- put peanut butter in with cooked noodles for backcountry pad thai
or get a few feeze-dried meals for dinner- very easy to make- you just boil water and pour it in the pouch, let sit, then eat directly from the bag. Pare down all the packaging before you leave (don't forget cooking directions) and bring a spork!

Trail mix, breakfast bars, and there are dried goods camping food packages in the sports and recreation section at walmart and other stores. They are light weight formulated especially for camping and some of them are quite tasty.

bottle water for sure or u will get dehydrated , how about pack noodles that u can do quickly, a few tins of sardines, divide the weight equally, don't carry excess tin stuff and some bread. trust me you will survive. I've done that before on hikes and the weight was ok. Good luck with the hike.
