What are some good fiction books set in the middle ages?

I've heard that Avi has some good historical fiction books, but are any of them set in the middle ages? I thought I saw someone in my class (this is for a book report) with the book Crispin... is that a good book?
I prefer that it isn't mystery. Historical fiction with some fantasy is my favorite kind, but I don't mind if it is realistic or something.
