Meaning, what are some flaws, in your honest opinion of your culture/community? And with those flaws, what changes would you like to see happen that can make it better?
Its good to see the ups of your culture and heritage, but every culture also has some flaws (not a "blood" thing, but more of a "cultural, general community" flaw). WE ALL have them, so don't be afraid to speak your opinion, no one is perfect and its good to realize the downsides along with the positives.
*K*- I actually have a question asking about the good things. Now I'm asking about the flaws. What's wrong with that?
Here, I'll even be nice and state mine.
Puerto Rican- can be too hot tempered, some can be too ghetto, some can't tell "who's one of us", can be snobby to others who don't fit our image
Italian- dysfunctional at times, tends to be all talk, tends to speak the mind too much, some of them are very, very racist
Irish- cold, can be a little too conservative and hard bitten
See its not so bad. Because you look at them and then look at yourself and see what you can change or at least if you aren't like that you can prove a stereotype as not being true.
The thing that bothers me about the Puerto Rican community is the ignorance and the fact that many PR parents don't know how to raise their kids right (encouraging their kids to fight, be ghetto), its not just the PRs but the latino community in general. I also don't like the excess pride many of them have to the point of being snobby and alienating others.
I don't like Italian-American culture at all since many of them are racist, ignorant, and can be flat-out stupid at times. I'm not too proud of having such a descent at all.
Irish, they're a bit too cold and conservative, they keep to themselves too much. (No drunk stereotypes here).
