Western Civilization is "occidental" civilization, from Byzantine beginnings, includes development of Greek civilzation philosophy, arts, sports, military strategy and competition, then later that of the Roman empire, then the development of Europe with the Holy Roman Empire (now Germany and France etc), then the development of nation states and imperialistic exploration and expansion to North and South America. Western civilization includes the old pagan deities and myths, and Judaism and Christianity, and Science and philosophy, and ideas like monarchy and democracy.
