...traditions into modern holidays? I don't think Halloween needs help, but Christmas and Easter are really pre-Christian holidays. How can we reincorporate more of the original Paganness into them easily and inexpensively, especially if we celebrate with Christian friends and family?
victorbaal: I already do that, but I was looking for something that isn't so Christianized.

Buy a Christmas tree, dye Easter Eggs.

Oh wait, you already do that? Congratulations. Pretty much all you have to do is cut out all the Jesus stuff and you're left with an essentially Pagan holiday.

To Alice: Yes its nice when the Dictionary is always right, but thankfully history is a little more complex. Christmas and Easter were holidays celebrated long before Jesus was even thought of for various reasons. The idea is, many holidays grew up around agrarian calenders and religious groups incorporated them. There's nothing really wrong or sinister about this, but don't act like it didn't happen.

Mistletoe is cheap, and caroling is free. Except for the gifts and ham, pretty much anything else is relatively inexpensive. Hanging stockings doesn't cost much, and you can fill them with fruit, which is cheap. You can hang a wreath, doesn't cost much, does it? I have no idea anymore, haven't had a wreath in about 30 yrs! My mom made ours out of plastic baggies, which didn't cost much. Sounds like it looked cheap, but it was really pretty, lol.

Try serving ham sandwiches the day after Xmas. A ham isn't cheap, but the sandwiches the day after are mmmm soooo good!

EDIT: Oh yeah, you said Xmas <and> Easter. Dying eggs is cheap, and the egg hunt is free. Ahh, and egg salad sammiches, talk about good! And cheap!

Pretty much keeping Jesus out of the festivities would keep these holidays purely Pagan. Most of these holiday festivities already employ Pagan elements, even if most folks aren't aware of it.
