What are some beautiful yet comical Broadway ballads?

Hi guys! Listen I need a lot of help. My school is putting on a production of the tap musical "Crazy for You". For those of you who don't know it, it's kinda a mix of "Me and My Girl" and "Singin in the Rain". For our audition our director has asked us to prepare a ballad to sing at the audition. She wants the ballad to reflect our personality and the character we are trying to portray. Since it's a ballad it obviously means a love long, but the character i want to portray is romantic and comical. The musical in which the ballad I do is from should also take place around the same time frame as "Crazy for you" which is the 1920's- 1940's. In my audition my main goal to gain a laugh out of the directors is to sing the ballad while flirting with a girl in the room with me. I need a song that I can act to with as well. Please help me I really need it! Thank you
