Okay,I'll be the first one to admit I probably let my 2 year old daughter watch stuff that she probably shouldn't. Bad,I know. But I never thought that she actually watched/ listened to it. I was wrong there too. Long story short, she's been saying and doing things that she shouldn't but I know she got them from what I've been watching.

So what are some safe shows for a 2 year old to watch?

*I mean music videos and shows like CSI,Burn Notice, and ALMOST everything on Spike TV.* And my fiance has already fussed at me about it so you don''t have to.

There aren't any adult shows along the CSI etc. lines that are appropriate for a 2 year old to watch, and most music videos are aimed at teens and up too. TV which you watch with your 2 year old should be aimed at her, not you. Watch your CSI etc. after she has gone to bed.

YES! Toddlers pick up everything from television- ! So, it's best to NOT let them watch tv. I know tough- However, try television shows on SPROUT, NICKELODEON and Nick Jr. Shows like DORA and DIEGO teach spanish and problem solving. BLUE'S CLUES and other shows teach language and dance! You can also get foreign language DVD's from your local library and teach spanish, french, german, chinese etc... READ to your child they love it and it's a great way to spend time together.... Or engage your child in other types of play.. Building blocks, coloring, counting, alphabet etc... They are like little sponges at 2 yrs. old...

Good luck

Does the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend against TV viewing for children under the age of 2?
Yes.

In 1999 the American Academy of Pediatrics issued a policy statement about media and children. In it, the organization discussed the benefits media education can have as well as the health risks TV poses to children, especially those under the age of two. Specifically, the AAP said:

"Pediatricians should urge parents to avoid television viewing for children under the age of 2 years. Although certain television programs may be promoted to this age group, research on early brain development shows that babies and toddlers have a critical need for direct interactions with parents and other significant caregivers (eg, child care providers) for healthy brain growth and the development of appropriate social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Therefore, exposing such young children to television programs should be discouraged."

My 2 year old niece loves Dora the explorer, Go Diego go, and The Backyardigans(which is actually a pretty cute show), My friends Tigger and Pooh, Handy Manny(I think thats what its called)

my dad and I used to watch the winnie the pooh movies together (great bonding) and sesame street, Dora, Diego, Barney...PBS and Sprout are good channels

technically, a two year old shouldn't be watching tv at all or no more than about fifteen minutes a day, she'll learn to sit down and watch it rather than playing and entertaining herself.

Pbs kids shows, they have really good learning shows, like Arthur, curious george, Maya and Miguel teach them spanish, bearenstieen bears teaches them to be nice, Arthur shows them everyday life probs with friends,
