what are some Anime shows you would like to see 4kids pick up for the cw4kids

Hey now, it was fairly obvious they tried to hold onto Spectacular Spider-Man as long as they could. Sony went with the higher bidder.

And Tom & Jerry Tales and Legion of Superheroes were both WBA shows, I figured WBA cancelled them since WB wasn't programming the block anymore, they had no stake left in it.

And the rest of the late Kids' WB lineup was mediocre at best.

Yeah the Japanese animation pool has been mined about as much as it can right now, there's nothing they can bring over that will "save" them.

The industry's facing its own problems in Japan - of the top 10 highest-rated anime series, none of them are less than five years old, most of them ten. There hasn't been a new bona fide hit in way too long. That's why we've been seeing an increase in revivals lately, which kind of adds to the problem, or at least just delays trying to solve it.

I think the problem with Japanese animation is that their doing what we seem to have been doing with live action, going for quantitiy over quality, I mean there have been what..300 anime made this decade..(LULZ) and in all honesty very few could be called A+ material. (even the popular ones sometime) Not to mention the rediculious amount of Niche & Fanservice seires that for the most part can't be played on US TV. It makes me wonder.....Could Japan be gearing up to go through an animation slump in the 2010's like we have (to an extent) for the most part of this decade.

No, 4Kids didn't own it nor even a piece of it. They couldn't control it, they had no streaming rights. And for that matter, Warner Bros. and CBS Inc, the two owners of The CW, should have forced 4Kids to commit to the two-year agreement they had for the series. 4Kids refused and repeated the series throughout that fall and buried it in the early morning slot where it still had decent ratings. Now, Spectacular Spider-Man, probably the greatest Marvel animated series since the original X-Men, is on a network that barely registers a blip and not on broadcast television where it could have continued to dominate.

Then again, Marvel and Disney were probably flirting with each other at the time and played a role in putting the series there in the first place.

So instead of Spectacular Spider-Man, we got Dinosaur King. Yay?

But they still could have picked them up for a third season. 4Kids has shows from outside companies. Apparently 4Kids felt that they didn't need those shows to be a part of their block let alone the audiences those two shows . Also, you know, they didn't own the series nor a piece of it.

So instead of Tom and Jerry Tales and Legion of Super Heroes, we got Gogoriki and Viva Pinata. Yay?

The Batman was ending because Warner Bros. felt the story was told and they wanted to go in a lighter direction for some reason (Brave and the Bold Season Two coming soon to Cartoon Network), Shaggy and Scooby-Doo was winding down though it was a ratings hit and the studio wanted to return to a more traditional setting (Mystery Inc., coming soon to Cartoon Network). Skunk Fu was supposed to be moving to Cartoon Network for a new season, but idiots took over the network and scuttled those plans.

Johnny Test had respectable ratings and moved exclusively to Cartoon Network (new season coming soon). Eon Kid was doing respectable, but unfortunately, the final episodes never aired. The World of Quest was fun, but, sadly, didn't get renewed for a second season. And those preschool shows didn't catch on. But that "mediocre lineup" still did better than The CW4Kids.

I know 4Kids didn't own a piece of it, but they had broadcast rights to it through the fall and up until it went to XD. And they gave it double airings through the fall and promoted it as much as their own shows, they weren't burying it.

But then...

Ding ding ding! We have Spectacular Spider-Man on XD.

Again, yes, I know they didn't own a piece of it. But would WBA really be open to making third seasons of those shows for the block even if they had been approached? WB and CBS sold off the block for money and because they didn't want to program it anymore. And if you're selling off a block that you were programming, chances are you did it because you don't want to make shows for it anymore either.

If WBA cared so much to make third seasons of those shows in the first place they could have just as easily moved them to CN. But they didn't.

Johnny Test moved over to CN, but Cookie Jar is producing it now, so.

These aren't exactly apt comparisons.

Instead of Spectacular Spider-Man, we got TMNT, both great superhero shows.

Instead of Tom and Jerry Tales, we got Viva Pinata. Viva Pinata's a very well-written comedy and probably one of the most underrated cartoons I've ever seen out there, if you've even seen a second of it. It is run by Lloyd Goldfine, same guy as TMNT, after all.

Instead of Legion of Super Heroes, we got Huntik. Both okay action cartoons.

Quality-wise, though, was it really that great?

The Batman and Shaggy and Scooby Doo were inferior retreads of their past counterparts, Johnny Test isn't very well-liked around here if I look around, Eon Kid was a cheap foreign acquisition in the vein of what you'd accuse 4Kids of doing, and World of Quest was a cheap Flash production. And 4Kids still streams Skunk Fu.

Yeah, well, brand recognition is the strongest factor here, of course 4Kids can't compete with the might of WB's brands.

And to make this on-topic...there are no anime brands available right now that would help 4Kids to compete with that might either. Whew
