What are possible reasons my 99 Honda accord randomly dies on me?

My accord is a 99 and has been kept up pretty well, but now will randomly shut off on me . Does it while at a stop light or driving along a road at 35 mph or even highway . Seems pretty dangerous . Any ideas? I still have battery power after I pull over, but seems as while I coast over to the side of the road, I have little battery power if that helps
 
Your problem is your EGR valve. My cousin had a 97 acura with a j22 engine in it nd the EGR just died. We changed it out, it failed the emission first then it passed when we put a new one. The EGR causes a clog and makes the car randomly stall... Have a mechanic check your EGR.

BTW is there a check engine light?
 
Most likely answer: Your alternator is bad or old. It happens. I replaced mine in my 94 mercury cougar about 5 years ago. The best way to check this is to take it to Autozone because they have a machine that can check it for free. If you don't have an autozone around you can do something that might be a little more dangerous but it will give you the same results. Start your car, take off the cables on the battery. If your car still dies this will tell you that it is not the battery and most likely the alternator because a car should not rely on the battery when running, but solely the alternator.

I have a '99 honda accord also and i had this exact problem. i brought it to honda and they did all this work on the engine, then a week later it happened again. what it ended up being wat the ignition was shot. if i just barely touched the key when it was in the ignition and the car was on, then my car would shut off. so they finally figured it out when i went on a ride w/ one of the mechanics. so i would say bring your car to a honda dealership and tell them the problem and make sure they check the ignition switch.
