What are "photo bombers"?

A photobomber is someone who pops into the background of a photo to make a face, or do something stupid. The phrase can also be applied to things that happen unintentionally in the background/that were unintentionally photographed.

I asked a question on photography etiquette a few days ago and someone said to watch out for "photo bombers".
Anyone want to enlighten me on the meaning?
