what are my rights in a gym membership (australian law)?

i was told by the owner of the gym that i couldn't transfer my gym membership to somone else she said "we don't do that here" is she allowed to do that becuase i thought you could transfer gym membership i think the only reason she did that was so she could get more money becuase my aunty was going to join anyway and she was going to take over my membership and she knew that and since my price has been locked in place it has gone up 2$ a week is she trying to rip me off or do i just have to accept it
Btw it is common practice for gym memberships to transfer memberships
Sorry gyms to transfer membersips is that like a law or just a gyms choice
 
You can not transfer membership between two people.

Prices of things go up in time, due to inflation. Higher equipment cost etc.
The price u payed, may be different to what it is now. An in effect, when your memberships expires naturally u will pay the updated price.

Having said that, you do have another option.

If you purchased a 12 month membership with the gym. 6 months into the membership, you choose to not see it through. The gym will have to refund the remaining 6 months of what u paid as you no longer require it.
Get the refund, give it to aunty. And she has her new membership subsidised by you.

You wont be able to return to that gym though, Because you will have no membership.
