What are my rental options?

I am renting a receiver from Bell.

If I was renting a couch, I could return the couch and rent another one for the same or different price.

Can I swap out my receiver with Bell?

Your previous post was about a 9200 that you are renting.

I can only guess this is the same question again.

9200 questions should be posted to the 9200 Forum.

You can ONLY UPGRADE 1 Receiver during a Rental term.

As you have made a mistake, in your opinion, in taking the 9200, which should only be for a 1 year period anyway, then you have no other better receiver to Upgrade to, therefore you are stuck with the 9200.

Thanks for your help, Nimiq 1.

My question here really is about the rental program. I do have a 9200 receiver, but my question isn't specific to those units. However, if this should be in the other forum, I'm happy to talk about it there as long as my thread doesn't get closed. Regardless, I appreciate any help that is given.

So the rule is that I can only upgrade a receiver once during a term, right?

And a term is 1 year?

Your term should be 1 year, as you are an existing customer.

As I said before, if you are within the 10 days, call and cancel.

When you that upgrade you have to be aware that you would have to pay the technician's charge (75$) to install the "upgrade", even if all cables are there and you could do it yourself

Hu, thanks for the reply. I'm suprised with the $75 charge, but it is Bell. I guess it'll save a couple of bucks in shipping since they'll deliver it with an installer.

So then...

The rental program allows you to upgrade your receiver once a year at a cost of $75.

Is that correct?

Thanks again for the help!

I'm sorry to be a pain in your butt Nimiq 1.

In post 3, I asked if a term was 1 year and in post 4 you said that it was.

Again, if I was renting a couch, I could take it back to the store and rent another couch. What I'm trying to figure out are what the Bell rules are for their rentals.

I pay $20 a month for the receiver. Can I call Bell up and tell them that I'd like a new one in a year? Will this cost me $75?

You are Renting a 9200 on a 1 year term.
By now, you are beyond the 10 day window to cancel.
As the 9242 is not considered an "upgrade" from a 9200, I do not believe you can change this receiver in this Term.
You are stuck with this 9200 for the full period of the Term (1 Year).
One day after the Term you can ask for another receiver.
At that point ask them about the Couch too.
Installation costs for any Rental receivers is a MINIMUM of $75, right now. What it will be at the end of your term I have no idea.

Some may consider it to be an upgrdae but as it only offers 5 hours more HD recording and NOTHING else right now, it is classed as a replacement.

Plus it costs the exact same as a 9200, so that means to Express Vu that it is not an upgrade.

Try, there is nothing to loose.

Oh sorry, I thought that you ment that Bell didn't consider some units as an upgrade and as a result, wouldn't give it to me if requested.

But yeah, you're right in that for me it's not an upgrade. I really wasn't considering it, I was just trying to figure out this rental thing so that if they've got one that doesn't have the problems I can upgrade.

Thanks again for your help!

If you are having problems with your 9200 post them here, there are several people who understand these units better than the CSR's....lol

Thanks, yeah, they're "normal" and pretty well documented in the 9200 section.

Thanks again for your help though. It's greatly appreciated.

No problems.

Just FYI, I had the usual freezing, out of sync type issues for about 2 years, then I changed out my Legacy LNBF and Switch with Dish Pro equipment and have had no problems in the last 3 months.

Express Vu do not support Dish pro but still I consider it a worthwhile gamble.

Oh wow... I didn't find any information on that. Thank-you so much for mentioning it.

Rather then Hugh give me another infraction, I've created a new thread to ask some questions about the Dish Pro upgrade.
