Hi, I've wanted to join the Army for a very long time. Here's my only possible obstacle. When I was very young, in elementary school, I was diagnosed with OCD about hand washing and put on Prozac, and later switched to a lower dose of Prozac and Luvox. I was merely left on it because the doctors saw no reason to take me off of it.
Anyway, I want to join the Army incredibly bad. I found out I can't be on any prescription medications, so I talked to my doctor about ceasing medication, and since October 1st, I have been completely medication free. Given the nature of Prozac and Luvox, they have both been out of my system completely for over two months, during which time I have undergone the massive stress of engineering class finals without any OCD symptoms returning.
I know that when I try to join the Army I'll need a waiver because I was on these medications and I'll need to be off of them for at least a year.
So far, there have been no return of obsessive thoughts or behavior, and I also have an aerospace engineering degree and I'm sure I'll get a great ASVAB score.
Now, I'm asking people who are familiar with the waiver process what my chances are. I've read everywhere where people say "well, it will be on a case by case basis, so there's no way to tell", I know that already.
I'm asking now, what you would estimate my chances are. Do I have a good chance or a snowball's chance in hell?
