What are my chances of getting into a good school, starting off at my local

community college? I took honors classes in high school and have decent, solid grades (A's and B's). I'm going to my local community college in the fall, how can I improve my chances of getting into a good college and getting financial aid based on merit (because i'm not eligible for federal aid). I don't have money however, out of pocket I can only pay for about $5,000a year, so I need other resources.
 
Have you applied for scholarships?

If you are accepted into private colleges, many will bend over backwards to make sure lack of money is not an impediment to enrolling.
