What are male betta fish compatible with?

Hi,
I just got a male betta, I have a 2.5 gallon aquarium. Is there any other sort of fish/creature I can put in there with him? I know two male bettas cannot go together, but I was just curious if there is some other freshwater creature that can be put in there with him,

Well first thats a little small but you can get a snail or two or maybe a small catfish but you must clean the tank weekly or your bettas fins may start to fall off then eventually die this happened to me i had a 3 gallon i think and i didnt clean the tank and my betta died in about a week and his fins fell off so be careful they are beautiful creatures.

PS if you get a bigger tank (minimum 5 gallon) you could get small catfish, snails, head and tail lite tetras, red eye tetras
