What are good subwoofer ratings for car audio?

Now I am pretty much a car audio noob, and I'm looking into getting a subwoofer, or possibly dual subs.

What raitings should I look for in a sub? I'm not looking for anything crazy, but I don't want the $50 walmart sub either.

Continuous Power Handling

Peak Power handling

Impedance

Number of Voice Coils

Efficiency



I know these are some pretty important ratings, what numbers should I look for to get some pretty clean, crisp hits and sound?
Also, I would like a little info on amps please :)
Thanks kickerl515, I just have one more question for you... Since I'm new at this and I'm not looking to buy everything separate, do any of these packages look legit? (I know eBay isn't the best place but I just browsed through it quick)

I'll lay it out plain and simple.
Subwoofer. higher rms the better. higher db the better. do not worry about peak.

Amplifier. higher rms the better. when looking at rms look at ohm and make sure your amp is the same ohm for example.

500 rms @ 2 ohm

Make sure your subwoofer says the same thing.

If you want dual subwoofers and they each had 500 rms,
get an amp that puts out 1,000 rms. and get a final impendance load of whatever the amplifier suggests.

Also, the box is just as important. I would suggest ported. ( one with a hole )
