What are good skills to learn/have before backpacking Australia?

I've got 3 months before I head to Australia to travel around. I've got a working holiday Visa, but want to get some skills before I head out to give me the opportunity of getting a good job to support my holiday whilst I'm there. I assume bar work is a good skill to have, and I know you can do a one day course out there, but is there anything I can do at home?
