What are general education courses for college?

Are the following classes GE courses?

- INTRO COMPUTERS & CMPTNG 3.00 CRED
- SPEECH 3.00 CRED
- BASIC MATH 3.00 CRED
- PRINCIPLES OF SOCIOLOGY 3.00 CRED

I need to know because I'm planning on transferring out of the CC to a 4 year college in 1 year. The counselor told me only to take GE courses.
