Stiffening capacitors are used to momentarily supplement power to the amp when it draws more than the battery can give. They are often bigger than a Farad . They work like a battery which give out its power right away like a firecracker. They charge quckly and discharge quickly. A farad is a huge amount of capacity. Common capacitors found in electronic circuits may be only a few thousands to a few hundred of a thousandth of a farad.
