what are apps and are they used with the Android by Vz?

I am thinking of getting the newest phone from verizon but I don't know why it would be a good choice. What are apps? Are the free?
 
Apps are programs or games for a phone. Yes the Verizon droid uses apps, and it has many more free apps that the iphone does. Also it can run more than one at a time, the iphone cannot. (and it has a better screen, and interchangeable batteries, and an available keyboard. iphone has none of that)
