I have a 06 TJ Unlimited. I recently went to my local jeep mechanic to inquire about a lift kit. I would like to do some light off-roading, but still have a good highway ride. I was told that to support 33" tires, I would need a 3" suspension kit, with a long-arm system (2k) and I would need to have my gear box replaced (2k). 5 new wheels and tires (1.5k). They quoted me $7k total for the parts and installation. Is that unreasonably high? Am I being sold things I don't really need?
