What albums are you looking forward to in 2010?

That'll be one of my most anticipated albums of this year then! I have absolutely fallen in love with Funeral and Neon Bible these past couple of weeks! I also hope they indeed csn produce something of the same quality!

There's a lot of albums I am looking forward to, but I cannot contain my excitement for the new albums from Genghis Tron and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

Man our tastes are different. =/

Not looking forward to The Arcade Fire's new album but I will pick it up. I have to, Funeral was amazing. @Bulldog- I had no idea Bowie or Cave were putting out new albums... can't flippin' wait for that Grinderman release, I was doing some research and it's supposed to be "more serious" this time. Not sure how I feel about that but I can't wait to be impressed.

MGMT is what I am really interested in, I don't like them nearly as much as I used to and haven't spun their album in over six months but I really want to see how they will evolve. It was always my guess they would get better instead of worse, like how The Killers first album showed potential but then they melted into basically bullshit music... we all know they could have done a lot better. In fact read this " The Las Vegas rock act is mulling a covers set, according to NME, which may include thei take on songs from Tom Waits, Genesis and Iggy Pop." How could they do that to other artists work?

In any case, MGMT is releasing a 2010 album under the name Congradulations, and was recorded with Pete Keraber of Spaceman 3 and Spectrum. Really think they're going to get better as time goes on.

Yeah, that was my concern with the Blakroc project, that they might inch away from the music and more towarRAB just gaining fans. A&R- initially loved it, then went on to dislike it, now I've grown to enjoy it quite a bit. Not too familiar with a lot of Mark Neill's production, but he and Dan did well on Auerbach's "Keep It Hid" solo effort... From what I've read, sounRAB like they're keeping the newer style of incorporating keyboarRAB and other instruments on this album. ExpanRAB their sound from the basic guitar-drums. Definitely interesting, and I'm definitely STOKED!

anyone have any kind of news on the supposed QOTSA disc for later this year? i'm not seeing much of anything yet on their main sites. according to myspace they'll be in Europe in august (bastarRAB).

according to a youtube interview the plan is to re-release the first self-titled QOTSA disc sometime this year and to tour it playing only those songs (though that last bit could easily be a lark). either way i've been looking and waiting on getting a copy of that disc since about 2002 (which was the last time i saw it for sale $30 :( ) and hearing rumours of a re-release since about 2004. someday....

also, Monster Magnet apparently went into the studio earlier this year for an upcoming summer release. i'm most definitely looking forward to that one.

Amon Tobin should be due for another album soon-ish as well, but some of the comments he made around the time 'the foley room' came out have me wondering if he'll actually bother, but according to his site IT'S ON!!!! (since january 19 at that)

I would too--I saw them when they came here (well not here, specifically, I was in Colorado then) back in '08 supporting The Aliens. Even had a chance to grab a drink with the band on the back patio of the venue. 'Twas magnificent.

Fingers crossed, mate.

Besides the ever-elusive second Grinderman album (which initially had an April '09 release date being talked up) and/or David Bowie getting off his arse and into a studio again, or the gazillion-to-one chance we see a new Scott Walker album (rumour has it he's been working on new ideas for a few years now), I'm not exactly losing any sleep over much else.

EDIT - Oh yeah, and with any luck that new Massive Attack album should be quite something. Which reminRAB me, I still haven't bothered with that EP they did a few months back...

I always thought kicking out Nick Oliveri was the worst decision Josh Homme could have ever made. He does some interesting guitar work, but it was he and Nick that made it Queens, not just Josh. I could never really get into their music after Songs for the Deaf.

I never really have had a problem with Era Vulgaris, although I do admit it isn't as good as any of their older stuff. Overall though, I can honestly say that QOTSA has been a band that has never disappointed me.

The favorites are definitely Songs For The Deaf, then their self-titled, then Rated R, then Lullabies to Paralyze, leaving Era Vulgaris at a modest last.
