What age can red eared sliders start eating feeder fish?

I have to red eared sliders. They're both about 5 months old and ones bigger then the other. I just recently started feeding them the floating stick pellets, but i still feed them the hatchling pellets as well kind of mixed in together. The bigger one can fit the whole stick pellet in her mouth but she has to chew it up, but the smaller one has to kind of bite it in half and then go back for the other half.

I wanted to see if they'd like some feeder fish but i dont know if its too soon or not. Also, if it is ok, what kind of fish? A guppy is deffinitley bigger then it's head.
 
They can actually eat feeder fish from the time they hatch. A baby turtle is very capable of tearing apart a small fish and swallowing it in pieces. They can also swallow fish that are a lot larger than their heads. If you go to a pet store you will usually see rosy red minnows available as feeder fish. These come quite small and should be easy for your turtles to eat. If a store doesn't carry these then guppies or small comet gold fish work fine as well.
