What a headline."Shop where 90% of job applicants can't do sums".?

A shopkeeper is turning away 9 out of ten job applicants. because they can't do simple sums. Are you listening British Government. What does that say about the system and standard of education we have in GB today. What do you think?

It's not the Governments or the teachers fault.

It's just that there are so many children who do not want to learn do their best to disrupt those who do.

They are completely unaware of the cost to the taxpayer of trying to give them a good education and have no idea of the future value of having been educated.

Offer an education to peasant children in a third world country and they will jump at the chance.

I think that it is a shame that either our standards of education in Great Britain are exceptionally bad or it is the students who couldn't be bothered to listen and work in class and revise for their exams. So, now their future will be applying for petty jobs in shops. I think the blame can't fully be put on the education system. Part of it must be reflected on the students.

Or has our reliance on technology left out simple skills such as sums?
Also have the job applicants completed certain education requirements?
That may be a reason as well...

Would the shopkeeper be willing to train on the job?
