Western cartoons you would like a anime remake?

Okay, but I don't think that sentiment was honestly Zoombie's intention and he made it clear it wasn't. That's all I wanted to clear up.
Sorry for derailing the thread. ^^;

I think Josie and the Pussycats and Jem would do well in a J-Pop context.

Meet the Robinsons is something I could see being adapted as a shonen series.

He-Man sentai.

But why all the jumping on Stitch? It hasn't even aired yet.

No there was no anime is superior from me. Some of the words in the opening thread implies I am not being disrespectiful to the west. Such as "take a stab", does not implying any type of cartoon is superior.

That is okay, we will end at that, and get back on topic. I do admit I am a little bit elitist when it comes to orignal vs english dub, in favor of the original. I just find the original of a anime better than the english dub.

Back to the subject, I agree I think Josie and the Pussycats would be a great idea. I think Alexandra would work well as a angry biter anime character. They should cast the woman who voices Miss Matsuzaka on Crayon Shin Chan to voice the anime Alexandra. Alexandra Cabot and Ume Matsuzaka are not that different from each other. Especially since a lot of their problems are self inflected.

Unless you've traded jokes with every single person living in Japan, you can't accurately make that statement. Please stop stating you opinions as facts.

And doing an Japanese version of a show that spoofs anime conventions would be kind of redundant, don't you think?

MEGAS also spoofed American pop-culture as much if not more than anime. A Japanese show making fun of American pop-culture could be very amusing.

No they don't. There are plenty of Japanese animated series that don't intentionally spoof any genre at all. Again, you can't make that kind of generalization unless you've seen every type of anime series there is, which clearly you haven't. Movie06, if you really must continually debate over these matters, it would help to actually have an a valid argument as opposed to just saying "anime is great" over and over again, because "anime > USAnimation" isn't a fact, that's just your opinion.

Yes it would, actually. Coop, Jamie, Kiva and Goat are all caricatures of American archetypes, not Japanese ones, so a anime take on those characters couldn't help but differ significantly from Cartoon Network's version. A better idea for a Japanese Megas XLR would be an anime that spoofed American sci-fi conventions, like HG Revolution suggested.

I think I'm not see much that isn't far from Main steam Japan because I doubt the US distributors would license non main stream. (I'm not sure about Shuffle  ) I look back to mTv Animation and I see very good as well as just plain creepy "mature" shows. When I see "not so creepy" from [AS] CMDY, I'll start considering again. mostly I tend to look for Canada/France to strike the balance of complex emotional stories and detaited animation that clearly expresses emotions above preteen but doesn't flirt with pedifilia.

Personally I'm not a fan of anime so I wouldn't want to see any of my fave cartoons remade into anime. Don't get me wrong, it could be good, I just don't think I'd like it.

Just for fun. Have you liked anime? Your user name suggests a standard that you like. I've looked at ScoobyDoo and it's one of the US standards that I often think of as General US animation, and one of the main shows I aim at. I expect full and complete opposite of my ideas and have no thought of changing your opinion. I'm just very curious.

The mainstream stuff in Japan are the kids shows like Doraemon, Shin-chan, Sazae-san, Pokemon, One Piece, and etcetera. Stuff like Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo are far from mainstream over there. They're the geek fodder that only a select few buy and get aired in the middle of the night when only otaku are watching.

The US distributer market basically revolves around licensing otaku-brand shows that only a few people buy. It's a niche industry and far from mainstream, which is why companies look at whats popular on the internet when they choose titles to license.

There's a ton of Japanese shows with spoofs/homages/influences for American media. I lost count of how many times I've seen a Bewitched or Star Wars homage/spoof. Those two shows/movies basically started two common trends in Japan.

I'd watch that. In that case, the main character's machine would be some kind of jet though. Actually, there's a lot of ways that could work and work well.

Remake, remake. I always thought Thundercats would work. It was at the halfway point already.
