Western cartoons you would like a anime remake?

I don't know if I should post in the anime board, if so just move it there. I'll post on the general board for now.

First it was Powerpuff Girls Z, which I hear is going to make a comeback, as well as Transformers, now of course there is the news of a Lilo & Stich anime remake.

So what cartoons in the west and in England, would you be interesting in seeing the Japanese take a stab at remaking and adding the touch of anime?

Western cartoons that could make it as a anime, and wouldn't mind if they tried to make anime series are:

TMNT - obvious this one had protential to be a great action story driven anime.

The Wuzzles - I don't know why, but it failed in the United States, maybe it has better luck in Japan.

The Care Bears - the format very remenensent of current saturday morning Japanese cartoons. Toy brand of creatures fighting evil villains and making the world a better place. The only thing missing and I think they would add is for human kids to be regular characters and be "partners" to an individual Care Bear. And in place of the stand alone's, have story arcs.

If Powerpuff Girls Z and Stitch taught me anything, is that having cartoons done as an anime isn't as cool as I thought it would. I don't really see the point of it anymore.

Ditto.

Every USAnimated cartoon does not need to be remade as an anime. Anime is not some magical video Cool Whip that automatically makes everything better. It's high time we Westerners came to realize that.

Anime fans are JUST ONE sect of American audiences.

Anime is not the key to making everything great. Anyone who thinks it is has a bias towards anime in the 1st place. Anime is just another art form, no better or worse than the animation from any other nation.

I have a feeling this thread isn't going to be around much longer...

No one even suggested that, though. The OP simply asked what cartoons would you like to see Japan's take on. Nothing more.

But there's a difference, I didn't say that. I said it doesn't hurt to experiment and cater to an audience. I mean besides, people in the entertainment industry experiment all the time.

Ditto. Every cartoon doesn't have to be a Japanese import in order for me to enjoy it. I judge shows by the quality of their content, not by their country of origin.

Yeah that is my point. I am not saying anime is automaticly better. Just what western cartoons do we think are compatable to be remade as a anime, and just see what would happen.

If you look to my statement about the Wuzzles, I didn't even say it would be good in anime, just essentially throwing it to Japan and see if they have better luck.

I feel like you two are the type of people who think anime fans are all obnoxious elitists. Am I wrong in making that assumption? This thread was just a simple question of what western cartoons would you like to see be remade into Japanese cartoons. There wasn't a need to bring an irrelevant statement into it, when nobody even implied that. Any open-minded person will judge a show by it's quality, not because of it's country of origin. Not every anime fan thinks western cartoons are trash (I certainly don't) and need to be made into anime to make them better-- as we all know Japan has made some terrible shows as well.

Now back on topic-
I will also say none. PPGZ didn't exactly leave a good taste in my mouth. But it's interesting to see Japan take on western cartoons, good or bad, just because I'm always interested in different interpretations of an original material.

Yes, you're quite wrong with that assumption; very much so. I would never do that. I know plenty of anime fans who are appreciative of other forms of animation, so assuming that all anime fans are obnoxious elitists is just as incorrect a generalization as assuming that all anime is automatically superior from animation from other nations. I'm neither a hardcore anime fan nor am I an anime hater; I'm a medium somewhere between the 2 extremes. But first and foremost, I believe in entitling people to their opinions, even the ones I don't agree with.

That's all I was saying...or was trying to say, anyway. Perhaps I was just mistaken, but the vibe I was getting from this thread seemed to be based on the opinion that "every USAnimated show would be better as an anime", which I flatly disagree with.

Well, it's not that kind of vibe. I mean come on, I love Anime but I don't say it's better than U.S. cartoons. I mean I like Western Animation as well.
