Were your experiences GOOD/BAD as to going 2 college/university very far away?

I live in MA and really wanna get out & go to college live on dorm and meet new people...I plan on going to places very far away from home such as FL,MN,NC,VA and I feel as if i'll fit in with the people there because im a funny guy...but in the back of my mind im like ok there is a chance it might completly suck and the people wont let me into their clicks..and ill hate it being all alone lol
