Did they even know what happiness was? they had never felt sadness how could they know what it is to be happy?
It's like night and day. Would we know what day was without night?
yes they were content but they couldn't have been happy
bearkiller- after they partook of the fruit they were no longer in the garden. so obviously it was before.
It bothers me when people say adam and eve were in this happy and wonderful state when they were in the garden but that is inaccurate. they absolutely were not happy because they didn't know what happiness was.
