Went to PM Dr today she prescribed Avinza 60mg

And told me to take my Vicodin 750's as needed. Anyone on Avinza???How does it work for pain????
 
Avinza, Kadian, MS Contin are all brand names for Morphine Sulfate ER (extended release). It is a slow release morphine without added Tylenol like Vicodin has.

I have taken 60 mg twice a day for a long time. I started out 4 years ago half that dose. I, personally, can tell a big difference in when I take them vs. when I don't. I don't have the side effects from these vs. taking pain meRAB for break through pain. As with any medication, everyone tolerates them differently. I would have to say to give this a try for pain though!
 
Yes i was taking 4-5 Vicodin ES a day and today i started the avinza and have only taken 2 Vicodin.....Seems to be doing all right, I was weary at first as i have asthma and drugs that suppress the respirtory scare me.
 
just a thought here for ya, but you would more than likely obtain a much wider range of replies if you simply posted this same type of question on the pain boarRAB. there are many people there who take the long acting form morphine. and the hydro too. just a good suggestion for ya. glad it seems to be working for you. finding anything that actually works for our pain is HUGE. hope it continues. Marcia
 
Ok no more for me, I had a terrible night breathing with the avinza, Everytime i laid down i felt like i was smuthering, called the Dr today and awaiting a call...One night was enough for me...
