Went to the doctor yesterday and just wondering what this was?
Okay I went to the doctor yesterday for pains in my lower back, side, and stomach, I figured it was another UTI (Urinary track infection) I've had 3 in the last 4 months. They decided to do all the things to confirm that but they also wanted to take some blood to do some tests. They really didn't explain why or what could be wrong. And then they came in and gave me an antibiotic and sent me home. I'm kind of freaking out, because it came on so sudden and I honestly thought it was the appendix but they wouldn't send you home if it was that, I don't think. Just because it came on suddenly that is what I though initailly but then I realized it was probably related to the infections I've had....

Any idea why they would need to take blood, also should I be freaked out?

It also bothers me that they didn't tell me if it was a UTI or not.

they also sent off a urine sample to the lab

Should I be freaking out? What could they be looking for?

(also they put me on Macrodantin so I'm assuming they think its just another UTI but my lower back hurts terribly)

they are more than likely culturing your urine(also would have done a 'dip' to check for blood and protien too) to get more specific with what is casuing this. this also would help with gearing the right anti B to the direct infection better. they are taking blood more than likely to just check your chems and the general kidney and liver and other labs they may have ordered. it would be kind of standard at this point with this reoccuring on you,or IN you. something is obviously restarting these infections or they never were totally gotten rid of in the first place, you know what i mean? some infections will clear, but only to a point,if the right anti B is not used to try and kick it out. it can still be there but the symptoms would be less(only because the other anti Bs did partof their job),but it could come back out again. doing that culture(hopefully this is what they are doing) will just let them actually see what is growing and what anti B would work best for YOUR particular infection.

this is pretty much the norm so i wouldn't start freaking out here. they are just trying to get to the real source and make you feel better. hopefully this time around they will get this done and over for you. good luck, and please let me know how things are going. FB

Okay I am feeling much better but Saturday night I felt like I was going to die I hurt so bad...They had given me Macrodatin but that was it...I called my mom and the doctor (my mom is a nurse) and they both told be to go to the pharmacy and get some AZO (which is like Pyridium) and it helped. Turns out it was spasms I was feeling....

Today I'm feeling much better, I feel like I'm going to be getting over this real soon....I need to because I'm going on vacation to NYC in less than 2 weeks

Okay I'm still having pain in my lower back and I heard from the doc a few minutes ago they said it came back saying I don't have a UTI and all my labs came back normal....

Now I'm freaked out because they basically said they don't know whats wrong

just where EXACTLY is your pain located? does this feel like it could be bladder pain? or in that particular area? FB

Its my whole lower back at this point...its very sore...and on my lower abdomen both sides but it comes and goes...My mom thought it was bladder spasms when we thought it was a uti (my mom is a nurse) but it came back saying it isn't a uti.

Now I've been on antibiotics a lot lately to clear up past UTIs I had 3 in 4 months.....

They now want me to go to my gyn to make sure its nothing female....but it still feels like its bladder or something...it doesn't hurt to urinate too bad though it does burn occasionally.

I'm set up with my gyn for a pelvic ultrasound on thursday

We thought it was a Uti since I had had so many....and my sis is prone to them....hers were caused by baths...

Of course I'm married and mine could have been caused by several things....but I've been taking an awful lot of baths lately to unwind

just a suggestion for you here considering your symptoms and the negative lab work? look up and do some reserch on whats called 'interstitial cystitis" i think that is the right spelling. my aunt has suffered for many years with IC and has had horrid low back and abdominal pain so bad she has had to be on morphine just to tolerate it. there was nothing wrong in any other areas when she went to get this nightmare diagnosed,so they finally looked at the bladder, and bingo, thats when they found it. this just 'could' possibly be what is going on with you. i would just research it and find out the exact symptoms then compare them to yours. if you really do see a possible connection, see your doc and ask him about it and test you for it just to see. they have now looked at just about everything BUT your bladder at this point,am i right? IC is basically a wearing away of the inner lining of the bladder. it does also cause bladder spasms as well. i just really think at this point, you need to take a good look at this condition to see if your symptoms match. sometimes when just trying to find a real solid Dx of something we are suffering from,we just have to take matters into our own hands(been there done that one to death myself). docs are just too busy and we can fall thru the little cracks in the system ya know? your ongoing symptoms just really do sound alot like my aunts did and are now too. just check into this and let me know what you think,K? good luck hon,and keep me posted. No the only thing they've done was a blood test and a urine test.....I go thursday for a pelvic ultrasound. This has only being going on since Thursday. I mean I'm 22 years old it can't be anything too serious. Luckily the pain has gone away a lot, now its just a twinge here and there. But the only thing they've done is check for a uti

I wanted to add all this started up around the time we started trying for a baby
