Went hiking and came home with hundreds of ticks.?

My husband and I went hiking yesterday. I noticed a tiny little tick on my arm. Then I noticed on our legs there were hundreds of them crawling all over us. They were latching into our skin everywhere, especially around our ankles. Some say its deer ticks and other say some other kind of tick. Does anyone know what these things are?
Live in central KY.
I am familiar with chiggers...and thats not what it is.
 
I don't know specifically what type of tick it was, but I think you should definitely get yourselves to a hospital and get checked out.

It would really suck if you guys contracted Lyme disease.
