Rather than trying to get $5k in less than a month, it might be more practical to start looking for a new place. Even with first and last month's rent, plus a deposit, the cost would be less in the short term.
If, somehow, you are able to gather the funds needed for your current place, might consider being a bit more involved in the finance side of the monthly budget. Surprises like this are not fun.
In the meantime, another avenue to research would be renter's rights. In some states, the owner has to give at least 90 days notice (more if a lease has that as a condition). And, even is the place is auctioned within 30 days, there may be a longer time frame before you can be legally evicted. Doesn't hurt to do some reading and find out where you stand legally.
Good luck, BEW. Hope things work out for you.
