make a run to the store about 5 miles away and when i come out to start bike you got it, first time ive forgot the fob at home. had to call some one to bring it to me. talking about feeling stupid!
You need to program in a code so you can use the turn signal buttons to dissengage the security system! That could come in handy if you are a thousand miles from home and loose or break your fob. Your wife may not apreciate driving a thousand miles to deliver the spare fob.
No matter where ya put the fob, you need to have the code programmed so you can start the bike when the FOB goes to $hit. Trust me. I wrecked a fob when I was in Sturgis one year. Fortunately I had a spare fob packed in the saddle bag. When I got home, I programmed the damn code!!!! Never gonna happen to me again. Imagine the embarrasment calling home to have the wife fedex the spare fob to you.
Spare fob in the saddlebag equals unsecure bike. Unless you wrap it in foil or one of those shielded bags.
Learning how to unlock the security system via the code should be a requirement for ownership. It's a huge stress reliever and makes a potentially big mistake a minor inconvenience. It's easy.
I use zip-loc bags to keep stuff in my bags. I ain't too sure I agree that it should be a "requirement" (I don't like rules), but I would advise that owners should at least think about consequences if they can't get the damn bike running due to a fob issue.
