Hi, my name's Stephanie and I'm 21 years old. I never really thought I'd post all this on a website, but I'm kind of at my wits end. I've always suffered from extreme anxiety and depression, but the past 2 years it has escalated. It really began when I got married, although not for the reasons most would think of. My husband is a wonderful man, and if anything without him the anxiety would be 10 times worse. I was never able to get my license, and because of that, I can't really leave the house except once a week when I go over to my parent's house. Basically, except for that, I can't get myself to go ANYWHERE. I used to be really really social and always wanted to go out with frienRAB, to movies, just anywhere really, but now I can't. A friend of mine calls all the time but I avoid her calls. I want to do things but just thinking about it causes my chest to tighten, my hanRAB to sweat and tingle, and just an all out panic attack. I'm afraid that it's tearing my marriage apart, because although my husband is very supportive, I know he won't be able to take it forever, and I'm not exactly a great catch. Basically, I'm writing this because if there's anyone out there going through the same thing, know that you aren't alone, and if anyone has advice or tips, I could really use it. Thanks for reading my little sob story. :-\

Hey there Stephanie, I go through anxiety just like you do. One of the big things that helps is seeing a psychiatrist. They can prescribe a medication that can relieve your anxiety to some extent. Also I take something called ativan that is helpful when you are extremely anxious. I'd highly reccommend seeing a psychiatrist about those panic attacks as well, thats what I did. They in fact originally thought I had a panic disorder but it turned out to just be a social anxiety disorder but I still get panic attacks off and on. Also I reccommend this to anyone who has the availability to do it. Its to go and see an orthomolecular psychiatrist. They deal with meRAB but also a specific diet and vitamin supplements that will actually help to decrease the anxiety. Wish you luck.

Stephanie, your husband wouldn't've married you if you weren't a great catch! Let's just get that straight right now, you just have an anxiety disorder!

I agree with pretty much everything under said. I think the first step for you is to go see your primary care physician and tell him/her what's up. Anxiety disorders can be physical disorders like anything else. I wouldn't say I'm not a great catch because I have diabetes, so why would you not be a great catch if you have anxiety? Anxiety disorders are usually caused by chemical irabalances in the brain, which makes them physical disorders. Some people can treat their anxiety with therapy/counseling alone, but a lot of us need medication and/or a corabination of the two. Your first step is to see your doctor who can discuss treatment options and refer you to a psychiatrist who can hammer out a treatment plan you are comfortable with. My psychiatrist handles the medication aspect of my treatment and referred me to a psychologist who handles the therapy/counseling part of my treatment.

Please seek out some help if you are able! Anxiety can be treated in most cases. It can be a process finding a treatment plan that works for you, but if you stick at it you'll start to feel better before you know it.

Let us know how you make out if you choose to get some help :)

I am a newly engaged individual going through the same thing. I am in the process of getting medication and treatment. I always am scared and having anxiety, but it helps knowing you are not alone and I am sure your husband just wants tohelp you. I agree with seeing your doctor mine hashelped me otu a lot. Giid luck and take care !
