Weirdest, most chilling, most ****ed up film you've seen?

Man has information that other people want to know.

Man is either unconscious or trapped somewhere.

People use futuristic means to access man's mind.

Cue lots of special effects as his subconscious fights them off.

I bet you 10p.

The first scene is very good visually (i.e. SFX wise). I am a long term horror fan who used to read Fangoria and i couldn't work out how they did it so seamlessly! I actually had to check google to make sure it wasn't real!

Very, VERY impressed with the effects. Tough to watch though.

Though not exactly chilling, or particularly f*cked, Jean Luc Godard's Weekend had me slightly agog when I first saw it. It's certainly 'out there' so to speak.

Another nod for Martyrs too, which surprised me not for it's gore and violence, but by turning into a very good piece about martyrdom.

Thanks for that, I would disagree and say that Week-End certainly does fulfill on all counts!

It was only after viewing the film a second time a couple of years ago (the first as a far less discerning teenager), that I came to realise exactly how scarily dense the film is. Each 10 minute reel is its own take on a little hell, in an incomparable way to the last. From the opening rhyparography, which is quite the most interminably filthy monologue ever committed to film (expatiated descriptions of rimming in 1967??? That is f-ed up enough in itself), through to the non-sequitur survivalist/cannibalist/conservationist surrealism of the finale, the whole thing feels like a weekend-long horrible nightmare. It really isn't an easy viewing experience, and is even harder to shrug off some time afterwarRAB, when you begin to recall it in your consciousness.

My god I forgot about "Begotten"

Its more of some kind of weird experiment than a film. Thinking about it - it makes Eraserhead seem quite structured and normal.

Yeah, that film is a little weird to say the least. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it in all honesty. I watched it purely out of curiosity after reading a few articles about the film.

Theres quite few films mentioned in this thread that i haven't seen though that I'm kinda tempted to watch even though i know i will regret it..:D

I was at the world premiere of Society at The Scala (damn, I really miss that place!). Remember seeing quite a few messed up films there, including Nekromantik and Thundercrack.

I think for me my list would include:

Last House on the Left (the orginal movie)
Tetsuo The Iron Man
Society
Frontiers
Bronson
Hausu
Shallow Grave
The Strangers

This is in no way comprensive just films I can think of now
