So I was waiting at the bus station yesterday (Cardiff bus station, as I live in cardiff) for a bus to Aberdare, i'd just missed one so it was about 25 minute for the next one and couldn't be bothered standing near the rail and get at the front of the queue as it was just about 4 old ladies anyway.
I'm standing looking at my phone, and this old guy starts staring at me. After a few minutes I walk to the shop to see if they had any softmints (they didn't), and his head turned to carry on staring at me... at this point I couldn't help myself from laughing so had to turn around (he was swigging from a bottle of whisky earlier on, didn't want to risk angering him) and then went to stand where I was.. still staring.
I start to stare back, and then he shouts (really loudly) "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHO ARE YOU WAITING FOR... FUCKING SANTA CLAUS?" to which I reply in a rather patronizing voice "No, i'm waiting for a bus" so he goes back to staring at me for another 10 minutes.
The driver of the bus got in where it was parked so a queue was starting to form, I got to the back of the queue (now i'm standing about 2 metres to the right and slightly behind him) and he turned around to carry on staring at me..
(In a really angry voice, like i'm about to mug him or something.. I don't look like a yob, I don't dress like a yob, i'm reasonably well spoken and don't have a rough accent whatsoever)
"STOP STANDING BEHIND ME, I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE STANDING BEHIND ME.. WHY ARE YOU STANDING BEHIND ME? STOP STANDING BEHIND ME.. I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE STANDING BEHIND ME"
I ignore him and remind him i'm just waiting for a bus, and besides.. even if I was a yob there was a St David's day march going on outside the bus station (which is why the bus from where I live had to take a much longer diversion and made me miss my other bus ffs) and police were everywhere, he goes to sit at another seat and carries on staring at me.
Is it just a weird old man, or that the young people of Britain have all been tarred with the same brush (there's recently been lots of hysteria about youths and gangs on the news).. either way it wasn't much fun being shouted at for no reason by him.
