I'm pretty good with computers (I fix them for a living), but I'm new to audio recording. I've tried everything I can think of and searched the web for every possible answer, but I can't figure this one out, so I'm crying for help here!.
As the title says I'm experiencing a huge delay (~3.5 seconds) between key strokes on my piano and sound output, the problem is, everything seems to be set up and working correctly; I'm also pretty confident that my system can handle the workload. Here are my system's relevant specs: CPU Intel i5 2500k [email protected] x4, RAM 16GB PC3-12800, SC Asus Xonar DX, MIDI Interface X-EMU Tab1x1, OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
Now here is how they are setup:
The interface is using the most recent (and only) driver available. I believe I've confirmed that this is not the issue since I've found reviews and posts all over stating how good and latency free this device is.
The MOBO sound chip is disabled in the BIOS. The sound card is using ASIO drivers which have no options to configure. I've tested this settings in 3 different programs and they all say that I should be getting a latency of 0.04 - 2ms. For output I only have the default windows GS Wavetable and my keyboard.
Now here's the weird thing, while dealing with this issue I decided to install a different program than the one I was using, so I installed FL Studio 10.0.9 this also installed a driver called ASIO4ALL v2; after installation I rebooted and started FL Studio, after configuring it to use the ASIO driver (not ASIO4ALL) it worked perfectly, my latency was 2ms and I couldn't be happier, so I though it was the software I was using causing the delay. But after I rebooted the system, the delay came back on any program, with any configuration, I tried rebooting a couple of times, reinstalling FL Studio with and without ASIO4ALL, but it never work again.
So I know it is capable of working without latency but I can't figure what in the world is causing it.
HELP!
Sorry for the long post and Thank you in advance!
