Weird computer problem?

I cleaned my sisters computer as well as all the fans and sockets inside the computer and now for some odd reason it wont start. a couple possible things that could be a part of it was i used compressed air to clean the fans and i think it might be something with the processor because it was going slow before but i took off the fan from there to clean it and put it back and nothing is in a different spot than before i worked on it. basically i turn it on and the insides look and sound like the computer is working but the power light doesnt come on, the monitor (though attached) shows nothing, and the sound, mouse and keyboard show no signs of it working. any suggestions on what to do?

Buy a new standard ATX power supply unit, they should fit in your sisters case, since it could be ATX or mATX but both formats of case will mount a ATX power supply unit. They can cost around $30 to $40 for a basic 350w or 400w unit. No incompatibilities at all usually, unless it is a HP or Dell with a custom designed PSU. You might have also just knocked a connection to the hard drive or motherboard, so just make sure all connections with in the case are snug, and re-seat the RAM.

Check the jumpers for the power, reset, ect.

Look for loose connections, you may have jarred something loose when you were cleaning.

naaa. you just disconnected the power wire. find and reconnect it.

Make sure you go the dust from behind the motherboard, this could be a cause. Also, take a slow look at all of the cords, and make sure they are all plugged in, especially the processor fan. If all of the power cords are ok, then do a quick check of the IDE and ATA cords etc... Finally, make sure that all of the cards, (sound, Ethernet, graphics etc..) are seated correctly in their slots. Other than that, start up the computer with the side off and see if there are any lights on the motherboard that stay on, not that just blink, but that stay on, this may be an indication that there is a further problem, maybe with the board or the BIOS Posting.
