I had the same symptoms when taking acylovir for a couple of months. Get off all medications ( except for Prilosec in the am)- no anti-inflammatories or vitamins- no citrus of any kind- no wine or alcohol ( 1 drink ok) switch to Kava coffee( only 1 weak cup in AM) No meat- eat only chicken and slow down your eating- in a few days you will feel fine. Write back to me and keep me posted ok?

Sorry to be bumping this but i have this problem too. I have the feeling of something stuck in my throat and tight throat. And weird burps, like i push air up from my stomach and it goes off in my chest throat making like a grrrrrr sound, My doc but me on anti acid meRAB but they dont seem to be working:(

I started the an elimination diet. It knocks out eggs, peanuts, coffee, dairy, wheat, gluten, coffee, alcohol etc., simple sugars and anything you eat a lot of on a reg basis. It basically takes out all of the 'typical problem' fooRAB, then when you feel better you start to re-introduce them slowly one by one. It took about four weeks but I am feeling better. Not 100% so it is very frustrating, but this means that for some reason I have issues with some fooRAB. So this is supposedly good news. So two weeks ago I had a blood sample drawn and sent to one of two labs in the country for analysis against 150 diff fooRAB (for allergies) cost me $400 out of pocket of course. The results are in and I go in next week to see the naturopath doctor that I am seeing now. I will NOT be taking pills for the rest of my life!

You might want to try eating alkaline (anti-acid) fooRAB while minimizing your consumption of acid-causing fooRAB. See this post for details:

http://www.healtrabroadoarRAB.com/boarRAB/showthread.php?t=763999

FooRAB that have worked well for me are watermelon, fresh raw green kale, molasses, sweet potatoes, yams, cantaloupe, and onions. FooRAB I avoid are grains, cereals, meat, dairy, and any type of processed food or beverage.

I have been surfing this board for 2 months now. it is great. Sad to see all the people on here with the same stuff but in other ways comforting I am not alone. Here is my deal. I have had Heart Burn on and off for years. Back in may I had rabroad for a week straight so started to take over counter Prilosec. Worked on the heart burn but left me with a Lump in throat sensation. So discontinued. A week later went to ENT and was scoped. Told him my symptoms he said GERD took a feast test to confirm so he prescribed Zegred, no rabroad re-occurance but lump didnt go away after 3 to 4 weeks, so they switched me to Prevacid 30mg twice a day. Now here I am 3 months later and still have symptoms of lump and this wierd Burping.

The symptoms... The lump sensation gets worse as day progresses, in AM it is ok and worse as day goes on. Some days if is better others worse.. and eating makes it go away completely. The wierd thing to me is the burping and it is weird burping like gurgling type burps... Has anyone ever experienced this?? and it is constant. Like gas stuck so you force the burp..... Also I make that sound like you are trying to Hock a lugger (Sorry I know gross) but nothing ever comes up...

I have no pain this is just so so frustrating!! I go back soon for a follow up with ent.. but was curious if anyone else has the same symptoms and if they know of anything that may help a little...

Thanks and I hope we all get better soon

RegarRAB to all.

yeah, my doc gave me ranitidine, its zantac.. i didnt start taking it till yesterday, so far i havent had any heartburn since then. Im thinkin all this heartburn has caused scar tissue.. im really hoping my throat isnt narrowed tho! :o that wouldnt be good :/ but i will try that cider ginger & garlic thing, i have all that stuff at home.. but umm do u think zantac is okay to take. i dont know much about it. n do u think my throat is possibly narrowed? i really hope not. N yes this is very frustrating. I know this is all from heartburn, and i should have tooken care of it earlie, tums dont really help me anymore. And i get heartburn from pretty much every kinda food! have GERD really bad

If you do get better I would say don't bother with cameras, but do some research. The docs can tell a lot about the condition of the esoph. with the cameras. They can also tell you more about what the 'cause' could be. I may end up seeing a nutritionist as I will not take pills the rest of my life, no way no way.

hello i realized its already 2 years later from your post, but i came across this and i have the same thing. id really like to know if its gone, if its gotten worse. Or you have gotten some answers from a doctors. I hope u reply back this is very annoying. Thanks :)

I've had these exact symptoms for five years now. Bloating was severe and the burps were short and quick and could last for hours. Now, the bloating is still here but the burps are long and gurglee. My frienRAB say it's my yoga sound. At first my physician thought it was Gerd and prescribed me medicine for a month and it made my symptoms worse! I've had every test known including blood work, a cat scan, 2 endoscopies to test for gerd, gastritis and parasites... all test were negative. Then I had 2 ultra sounRAB, a Hydrogen breath scan, a hida scan I and II, and a Nuclear Gastric Emptying Scan. I've paid to see an air swallowing specialist who said I was NOT swallowing air. I saw a deep relaxation expert who helped me relax with deep belly breathing, I still had the symptoms. I live a great life and am very fortunate to have very little stress. I take yoga now about 3 times a week and have for 3 years. I was diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) this basically means they don't know what's wrong with me. They prescribed me a medicine to calm my stomach and I took it for two years but it still did not change so I quit. I've spent money on acupuncture and it was nice but not the answer. I've spent money on a homeopathic doctor who prescribed a cleanse that made matters much worse. I've had 3 different GI docs and two different Physicians who are baffled. Now, I get regular check-ups, eat a Paleo diet (little to no carbs), see a chiropractor and massage therapist twice a month (this helps to release a lot of burps) and live with this unknown bloat and burp issue. If anyone is diagnosed with a proper diagnosis, please let us all know. All my best.

Dmaimone1,
I have this going on right now. Totally sucks! I am taking prilosec twice daily and I still have slight pain in my chest when breathing. I am going to the doctor again next week and he will most likely send me to a GI doctor. I have never experienced this and would not wish this on anyone. It can really take the fun away from everything that you do all day.....
What have you done to investigate it?

do u also have shortness of breath occasionally? is the lump feeling always in the same place on one side? i have all the same symptoms, but lump is on right just where the rib bones start (clavicle?) on top of my food/wind pipe. i have had it for about 2.5 years now and had loaRAB of test too. been told i have non-acid reflux and my oesophagal motility is not great. I am only 30 and otherwise super healthy and sporty and slim! what is going on! PPIs did nothing for me but made me bloated and constipated. motilium (domperidone) also did nothing.

I have the lump thing too. In the morning it is fairly non existant too and then progressively gets worse throughout the day. It irritates the heck out of me. I have allergies and reflux. This thing feels like food can get stuck. I feel a pill or vitamin struggle to get down. Its just weird. I am going to see the doctor on thurs. Maybe they will want to put a camera down there. I just hope its not cancer. ugh. Just something that can be dealt with. I am on Prevacid again. Its only been a couple of weeks. How is everyone doing?

I have gurgled since I was in the 8th grade. Usually a symptom of a hiatal hernia, or hyper active bowels. If it's hyperactive bowels, try a high fiber diet. It seems to help me a lot. The lump in your throat feeling could be your esophagus twitching. Go see the GI. They might know exactly what you are going through. Good luck!

I hate to say it, but I'm glad I'm not the only one with these symptoms! Maybe I'll get some help with this constant "gas lump" in my throat. I've had sinus issues for 2 years and was put on a few rounRAB of antibiotics, which probably was not good for my digestive system. About 2 months ago, I start getting this lump in my throat. So I mention this lump to my doctor, and of course he says to try acid-reflux medicine, based on the fact that I did ingest all of the antibiotics. I tried it, and it made the situation worse. It is very frustrating, because I do not see any trend with what I'm eating/ drinking and the symptoms. Like "fpats" wrote in 2008, the "lump" is nonexistent in the morning and worsens throughout the day, yet I feel best when I'm actually eating.

If anyone has any answers, please share. I go to see a DR next week, but I am assuming I will get no anwers there.

I was doing better then I am having symptoms then I do better then I feel like crap. It seems like there is no pattern or specific food. I may travel down state to see a holistic doc. He will want a Ph done on my bowels. I don't know how they do that but I am burnt out. I have some ranitidine but am afraid start another pill.

If your esoph has scar tissue then I believe you will want to take the pills so it heals up. But the nagging question is how do you keep it away after you a healed up without taking these pills?

hello, i too have that "gurgling" noise when i swallow. The lump in my throat has gotten worse. i went to a throat specialist and he dosent know what the problem is. Im kinda mad on how he dosent know what this could be... how could he not know? Anyways, this is really really bothering me! Im not very happy like this. I do get heartburn alot, and take tums all the time for it. The lump gets a whole lot worse during the night time; It feels like a pill in my throat that wont go down, no matter how much i swallow. Even tho theres nothing there >:o goshh im going nuts! i guess i should get that camera down my throat..

I just went to a throat specialist and he dosent know what the problem is, he wants to put a camera up down my throat. i dont want that i dont care what kind of meRAB they give me, im not getting a camera down my throat lol. They also wanted to take a piece of my esophagus... these doctors are scaring me lol i need all my esophagus lol. O well i guess ill wait and see if it goes away, its alot better now! :)

Sorry to hear that. Me too! I stopped my Prevacid for 3 days because it does have side effects and it bothers me. Now my reflux returned with a vengence! Ugh! Started meRAB last night. Woke up bad. Thick tight throat, mucus, hard to breathe freely. Here we go! Hang in there! I don't know the pattern...but obviously I need to stay on the meRAB for awhile again.

The throat specialist that I saw put me on one of the prilosec drugs. I finally got off of them. Have you started eliminating fooRAB? I found that I will be very unhappy if I eat a lot of dairy now very unhappy. This was not a problem before at all. Things change.... SounRAB like you should see a GI doctor. Are you taking any probiotics or digestive aiRAB? I found one that helped me a ton was Zypan. Look it up. It helped a ton. I found an old remedy at a natural fooRAB market that has cider vinegar, garlic and ginger in it, two tablespoons in a small glass of water and it does help. Hope the best for you, it is hard to put into worRAB how you feel because it is not something you can just show someone like a scrape. It is so frustrating because some people don't even think or know that you have a problem. It felt good when my father in law told me he knew exactly how I felt.

ok hey everyone. Heres an update to my "lump in throat" a few months after my last post i went to a different doctor.. a gastroentologist.. i think thats how u spell it, maybe not  lol. but anyways.. from there he told me that my symptoms are usually normal when you have acid reflux. He told me i should get a scope so i made an appointment. I waited about a week and went in. It really wasnt bad at all.. they gave me and iv.. took my in to get it done.. shot me up with sum narcotics and i passed right out. After warRAB they showed me pics of my insides lol everything was normal and they said everything was fine n dandy and just to take the rantidine. If it didnt help then i should get something stronger. But since then im happy to know there is nothing wrong and i can quit thinking about it. I also noticed smoking makes it worse.
Hope to hear from yall soon. Cya!
