A few days ago we had a massive snowstorm and the next day the temperature was very low -5 with a windchill of -18. I was out in the wind for quite some time and my lips started to chap and crack. I used some chap stick and for a day or so things were getting back to normal. Today though my lip has totally swollen up and I can open my mouth only a little bit. I don't think its a cold sore as I've had those and know what they look like. Could this be the result of the wind and bitter cold? Is there anything that I can use to make the swelling go down fast? How soon should I go to the doctors if it doesn't clear up?
