Weight loss through exercise and calorie consumption?

I am confused! I am a 6ft 2in tall and weigh 215lbs. My goal is lose 2 pounds per week. Lets say i consume 2000 calories and got to the gym and burn 1000 calories. Will i lose weight? or will i gain weight because there is a difference of 1000 calories that i did not burn?
