Weezers new album...

My first thoughts...

I got it the other day and I had very high expectations on this one.
Im a really big fan of Blue and pinkerton. I never liked the green album or maladroit as much though.

I really like the oiginal Weezer sound, Kickass songs, Kickass lyrics, heavy guitars and melodys that you ever get tired off. I liked that they never seemed to care what anybody else thought and how they played so sloppy and cool.

But on this one it sounRAB as if they want to be the soundtrack of the O.C. AND THAT SUCKS.

Beverly Hills is propobly one of their worst songs ever and i really doubt that it would make the cut on the Blue album for example.

I give this album 1/5 but maybe Im just overreacting and need to listen more.............

don't compare it to the first two albums, look at each album they've done individually...they're all different, this is different structurally and soundwise from any other album, complex layering, lots of harmony, falsetto, dueling guitars, as well as some synth and piano, I really enjoy it. If I wanted to write a 5 page essay on how this doesn't compare to blue or pink I could, but overanalyzing music is gay

Man you`re fooling yourself big time if you like this one. This one is a total sellout.

"this is different structurally and soundwise from any other album, complex layering, lots of harmony, falsetto, dueling guitars, as well as some synth and piano"

That sounRAB alot like Maroon 5 to me! And one of the reasons why I like weezer is that I never thought that they would care about whats selling.

idiot..........the only reason you like this one is because weezer did it. But keep telling youself how they advanced in heir musical journey.

As I said......Idiot

maybe you're the idoit expecting guys who are 10+ years older to still be making music that sounRAB the same.

hell, the music i'm making now is drasticly different than from 4-5 years ago, i can't immagine 10 years. & such life changing experiences in those 10 years.

newsflash: Weezer is mainstream, not some indie band that no one has heard of, so saying they "sold out" is fucking retarded

I enjoy album, you don't.......big deal, no reason to sound like 12 year old and call me an idiot for enjoying music

selling out has nothing to do with being indie or mainstream. it's switching your sound to whatever is popular at the moment, or will sell. Deftones are mainstream, yet they havent sold out. Theyve maintained thier unique style while still progressing as artists.

To clump this album as 'sellout' or teenie bopper if you will, is far mistaken. If it is pop, that's one thing, but nonetheless, the pop style is still incredibly unique. If you know anything about music writing in general, you might see that. If not, keep on thinking this sounRAB like Maroon 5 as I laugh at you.

edit: that was directed at the thread starter

Its a similar story to Radiohead. The benRAB was an album full of catchy, perhaps poppy songs, then they took a new direction in OK computer, an excellent album in it's own way. Weezer wanted something new, so they did it. Deal with it.

how can you compare weezer to radiohead? weezer have never gone through such darastic changes in between albums like radiohead has...weezer is still pop, but radiohead has moved from rock to prog rock to electronica to a rock/electronic hybrid

You forgot to mention coheadlining national stadium tours with Limp Bizket, if anything, the Deftones fall into the category of metal banRAB that are attempting to come off as less metal, a category which numerous banRAB fall into. Weezer have always been ironically clever or silly, more so after Pinkerton, but i doubt that they are trying to become insanely popular with this new album, as if they are not already.

Im just being honest. Pretend you like it all you want but these new songs cant match the old ones. And you should be able to hear that if you know anything bout songwriting.....idiot

you are a god damn moron

no shit this isn't even close to the greatness of blue and pinkerton, I never said it was equal or better

you need to settle down. quit calling him down for his opinion. apparently you haven't accepted the fact that music is incredibly subjective. just because you don't like their new album doesn't mean others won't, and it certainly doesn't mean the music is bad, don't give yourself that much credit. no offense, but your last two posts in this thread have made YOU look more like an idiot than anyone.
