Weekly Music Trading Post

You're not only one - funnily enough, I forgot to review his album too :D

Should have mine up over the weekend.

Just me and the good Ballad wanting to take part in this so far then. Anyone else?

My apologies to BlueCadet for being a bit impatient. I kept forgetting that it was the Easter long weekend.

BlueCadet has sent me Black Moth Super Rainbow album Eating Us. They are a
new band for me and on one listen are a homage to Air. That is no bad thing at all considering that I am a huge fan of Air. I will revue properly after a few more listens.

Glad you found it interesting Dieselboy....

To return the favor Dieselboy sent me The Dead Bodies - Mr. Spookhouse's Pink House

True to its name I can definitely imagine hearing this album play in a hunted house, but with that being said I really enjoyed it. I only gave the album one listen so far but it seems to be telling Mr. Spookhouse's story, who I just realized is a vampire.

The music mixes quite a few genres from electronic, to indie, even to classical but it all melRAB together perfectly and really pulls you in. Even though the tags on the song say indie i don't think you can classify it that easily.

Overall, I loved the album and highly recommend it to any interested parties. And as soon as I'm done typing this I'm going to find some other music by The Dead Bodies.

If people do not hear from their partners then just let me know and I'll be your partner for the week. I've got enough stuff uploaded so it's no bother to me and everyone leaves happy.

Im sorry, I just got it back about 5 minutes ago. Comcast took about 10 days to come and fix the problem. Sorry to everyone who was signed up. I will post partners tomorrow night, so that if anyone else wants to join they may.

Again sorry about the delay, should be fine from here on out. (To anyone who emailed me last time [the 8] , I will automatically assume you are still a go.

The No Smoking Orchestra - Unza Unza Time

I hated it. It's just too goddamn annoying. I bet these guys sound great live though, after many a beverage that is.

You've got No New York? Nice one! Yeah, there are some great comps out there. Plus, listening to them gives your LastFM artist count a shot in the arm, which always looks pretty cool :D I think I'm gonna heap some northern soul on whoever I get if the theme's alright with everyone conserned myself.

ColdWorld - Melancholie^2
08-Coldworld-Melancholie.jpg

I didn't know what to think when I first heard the band name and album title. To be honest, I found them both to be kind of cheesy. Though, I have to say, they fit the them. I mean...this is Melancholie squared. After a bit of research, I found myself even more worried as there is a hardcore/emo band named the Cold World. Hardcore is not my thing, to say the least. Luckily, it turns out these are two different banRAB (this one is one word - ColdWorld) and this one is an arabient black metal band. Not everyone's cup of, to be sure...but I have just so happen to be really interested in metal recently. This is exactly the kind of black metal I have been hoping to discover.

I could only find bits of information on the band, but it seems to be mainly work of one person who I could only identify as GB. A German band formed in 2005, they have only released this full length album and an EP called TheStarsAreDeadNow. I only spent a few minutes looking them up, but there is a definite lack of information.

The album starts off like the antithesis of black metal...slow and trippy...but, of course it doesn't take too long to get things kicked off. The first song, Dream of a Dead Sun, was a solid opener. From my past experience with black metal, I couldn't imagine it getting much better. Then Tortured By Solitude came on...wow. This song is officially in my top 3 black metal songs. Just slow enough, completely atmospheric (as all black metal should be, in my opinion), aggressive, and even the vocals blend perfectly (which I find black metal usually has a problem with).

If you don't have a mild interest in black metal, then you won't be interested in this album, to be sure. For those of us with a soft spot for it, though, this is a must. Truly haunting music, and it definitely fits the theme (but what black metal wouldn't). This album mastered one truly problematic aspect of typical black metal: contrast. ColdWorld threw in clean and arabient interludes between the songs that really needed them, and it played out nicely.

8.5/10 - This is my current go to black metal album. Thanks, abdullah!

Oh fuck. I think I accidentally sent you a fake mashup version of the album that leaked a few weeks before the real one dropped.

If Pink Sabbath didn't sound like this, and was a spastic bastardization of Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath, expect another PM shortly with the real one.
