Weekly Music Trading Post

When Bully and I were paired up this time around I have to admit I was a little excited. The dude's got great taste, and knows nearly everything about music that I don

I want it I want it I want it!
Also, haven't gotten anything form the Liz yet, but that might be because I haven't sent him anything. working on that now.

Even if it's just a few best of comps you yourself can lay claim to, that'll do just fine.

There's bags of time before I'm gonna start trying to round people up to take part in the next trade anyway, so if a lot of folk don't really wanna do this, I'm down with that.

Yeah...I don't know why it seems I am the only person who loves this album. I guess most people can't get over the fact that they made the conversion to total dreampop. Their debut was total shoegaze, Citrus threw in the dreampop, and Hush is all dreampop.

It is a bit disappointing that no one really likes the album, as I found it to be brilliant. But hey, different strokes for different folks. I'm glad you were at least inspired to check out Citrus.

Remeraber how you thought some of those songs from your Game Boy games were really cool, yet you never heard of any "Game Boy music" albums?
Well, if you find yourself saying "My god, I remeraber feeling like this so well, this Unchained Ballad chap is amazing", and you also like some hip-hop, this is your answer.

It's an immensely fun album which's lyrics seem to revolve around being a videogame master. Expect some random dialogue about almost finishing a level or taking turns to play a game.
Geeky? Yes, sir!
Hilarious? Indeed.

Hilarity aside, though, "Bad Dudes", for example, is a pretty good piece of music. That little...let's call it "riff", is quite amazing and gets me excited everytime.
I also really enjoy the fact that "Falcon Assult"'s occasional effects make me reminisce about blowing other Pokemons to smithereens with my powerful Charizard.

Overall, it's a astoundingly silly album, but don't let the laughs you'll have deafen you, they're actually pretty good musicians.

Anyway, Thanks mate!

Bulldog I'll get my review up soon... I've just been distracted by school, traveling, and a new album I've been waiting on for two months finally came out.

Alright, but for future reference, I partner people up that way it's fair and nobody feels left out, also it forces you to interact with other merabers on the boarRAB who's taste may differ from yours.

Yeah, you've gotta give Beefheart's stuff more time than most recorRAB - give it another few spins when you're in the mood for it, and it'll start to make more sense as an album (should do anyway).

Anyway, I'm gonna listen to that album you sent me in a bit. Stay tuned :thurab:

I'm hoping people have had a chance to listen to their albums, c'mon people lets get some comments going.

Also, as always if you're interested in joining up for this Saturday's sharing, please send me a PM

Well, here's what I got from PMO;

This is quite an album to say the least. Over the last week I've been digging a bit deeper into Tom Waits' discography, and I've been supplied with another brilliant album here. Not as instantly accessible as Mule Variations or Rain Dogs, but having given it a couple of spins already I already love it, and can see it growing on me even more. I think the best way to describe a lot of it (based on early listens) would be as a mutant crossbreed of blues and jazz, with heavy emphasis on bizarre rhythms and oddball lyrics. It's early days, but the highlights so far are probably Sixteen Shells From a Thirty-Ought Six, the harrowing Frank's Wild Years and the gorgeous instrumental RainbirRAB.

Anyway, great album, and one I'll enjoy immensely. Ta PMO

Blind Lemon Jefferson - The Best Of Blind Lemon Jefferson

A pretty large compilation of one of the best and most fundamentally influential blues artists of all time (23 tracks to be specific) and nary a weak spot throughout the whole thing. The guy died nearly 90 years ago, but the soulfulness of his voice and the twang of his guitar still rings through despite the extremely grainy recording quality, which actually contributes to the experience somewhat.

All in all, an interesting walk into the early development of 20th century blues and the roots of what would later become rock n' roll, and I found it quite engaging. Thanks FaSho!

8/10

to you, it may be. but imo, i thought it was great.

look, you guys could try to convince me that album A is better or worse than album B all you want, but the thing is that's mostly opinion. sure you can say that you're basing it on lyrics, musicianship or whatever, but in the end it's about what you enjoyed listening to better and what really clicked with you.

so yeah, i've heard both and in my opinion i liked The Wall better, and a bunch of people telling me i'm wrong isn't going to change it.

Noted and noted! So, including NuraberNineDream's PM as well as myself, that's 4 merabers for the next draw. Let's delay it Wednesday eh.

And Mojo, sorry for the delay with giving you feedback on your album. I keep getting sidetracked somehow. Should be up later this evening.
