Sorry to hear about your brother's wreck... glad he wasn't too seriously hurt. Also sorry to hear about your Aunt. That's a tough one. Hope you and your family are dealing with that as best as possible. That can't be easy.

Your brother was probably riding outside his comfort level trying to keep up with you. IMHO, if you ride together, you ride together. Just my $.02.

Important stuff first, glad your Bro is ok, that's always the best part of a story like this. Hope he's able to get his ride sorted soon as well.

As to the cagers? Are you really surprised? Our driving culture here is the U.S is embarrassing at best. I'd say at least 80% of the drivers here couldn't get a license in Europe even if they had Oprah money. They ain't stopping unless they have a vested interest to do so.

How about this? Instead of the traditional safety attention getters like an orange triangle, orange vest, traffic cone, flag or what not to get these morons to stop, we'll just carry around a portable billboard that reads 'Dancing With The Stars' or 'American Idol'......'Audition Here' and you'll have cars lined up for miles and all the idiots in the cages can pass the injured along just like crowd surfing at a concert. And if we put a tin cup in the victim's hand we just might collect enough change along the way to fix the damages! Other than that we'll sadly have to accept that we're surrounded by dangerous mental midgets.

Sorry to hear about your brother.. Two weeks ago, I (for the first time in years) ran out of gas on 99 south of Sac... coast to the shoulder, called AAA and waited for 20 min for fuel. During that time at least a dozen bikers passed only one actually gave me a thumbs up and a question - I motioned back thumbs up... Was really surprised at how many bikers even refused to turn their head in my direction to see if maybe I needed help.

Oh, well.

Thanks but no that wasn't it. He admits that he momentarily looked into his turn instead of his destination and that single moment put him too high into his turn and he almost got out of it but the front tire hit the dirt and he wasn't able to fight it back. He has been replaying it in his head ever since. He is a very competent rider. We ALL have those momentary lapses I did it in the same curve but got it back quickly. Anyone that wants to tell me different I will call BS on because it happens. Over 99% of the time we get out of it no problem call ourselves a name and move on but every now and then it happens.

yljkt I agree totally with you. One of the first things I put in each of my vehicles is a first aid kit. It's basic but better than nothing. I did become aware this weekend of how woefully lacking my tool kit is though and am going to work on that right away.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments for my bro. He's still a bit sore but is fine just waiting for the ins co to come and look. Anyone got any experience with All State? Are they going to take care of him or does he need to watch his back?

Gotta say this trend of not helping your fellow human being in need sickens me!!!!!!!!!!!
WTF....How can you not stop...what is it in a persons mind that says it ok to just drive by..... When i was a kid we were on a family vacation and we came across an accident were the car was on fire and with traffic stopped. My dad got out and went to the closest trucker and got his fire extinguisher.broke the glass on side door and pulled the lady from the car...and the car blew up soon after...Dad said that could of been a relative in that car...
After all unless you don't believe in evolution....We are all related....Brothers and Sisters....

Sucks...glad your Brother is OK.

Maybe we in this forum can agree to not drive past someone in need like this situation...maybe start something good going again...

I don't even think about it I stop... Car, truck or bike it does not matter, I am never to busy to help someone in trouble.

Glad it was not worse and your brother will be ok. For the record I don't see you did anything wrong, it has always been my rule to ride your own ride (I tell everyone I ride with this) and if I lose sight of you I will wait at the top of the next hill or clearing untill you catch up.

I know that I shouldn't be surprised by the fact that no one stopped. Two years ago my wife and I went on a run from home down to Tillamook and then headed north on 101. We got just north of Cannon Beach and broke down. I called a friend that came and got us. We sat on the side of the road for over two hours and in all that time one guy on a Harley that was from back east stopped to check on us. Granted we didn't look to be in distress or anything so why bother right? There used to be a day that people would stop and help or at least see if you were okay. It is a really busy section of road and not a single OSP or county sheriff went by which also amazed me. But in my brothers case... there's a man down on the side of the road and to not stop and do something is really low.
